Samantha Pompei

Inspired by her mother to use the game of basketball to love and empower young girls, Sami started Moxie AAU in the Fall of 2019. She won four CCS Championships, two Northern California Championships, and two State Championships while playing at Pinewood High School. Upon graduation, she continued her playing career at Sacramento State University where she was named the university’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011. She began her coaching career at Los Gatos High School in 2012. Over five seasons, her team won a league championship, finished 2nd in Division I CCS, and qualified for the Open Division CCS playoffs. Coach Sami was named the Mercury News Coach of the Year in 2017. She now coaches at Saint Francis High School and her teams have made it to the CCS Open Division playoffs, the Division II Northern California Semi-Finals, and two Division II CCS Championship games since 2017. The Lancers won the Division II CCS Championship in 2023.

Bailey Polisso

Bailey has been a part of Moxie since the Fall of 2019. She played 3 years of varsity basketball at Mountain View High School where her team made it to the semis of Division I CCS playoffs. She then went on to play for one season at San Jose City College. After finishing her playing career, Bailey joined Sami at Los Gatos High School as the head JV coach and Varsity assistant. In those 3 seasons she had a winning record with JV and was able to assist in getting Los Gatos Varsity to a league championship, qualified for CCS open division playoffs, and a Nor-Cal semi final run. She now coaches at Saint Francis where she assisted in getting to the CCS open division playoffs, Division II Nor-Cal Semis, and 2 Division II CCS championship games in 7 seasons. The Lancers won the Division II CCS Championship in 2023.

Carly Polisso

Carly has been a part of Moxie since its founding in the Fall of 2019. During her high school career, Carly was able to play for her sisters Sami and Bailey at Los Gatos High School. During her high school career, Carly made it to the CCS Division II semi-finals, won a league championship, qualified for the CCS Open Division playoffs in 2016, and made it to the Norcal semi-finals, making it the longest run in school history. Carly went on to continue her playing career at Menlo College where she played for two years, making it to the NAIA National Tournament her sophomore year, where her team made it to the Elite 8. She began her coaching career in 2018 at Saint Francis High School. Carly is currently the head coach of the Junior Varsity team.

Ruby Ngo

Ruby has over 25 years of experience coaching basketball on all levels. Her passion for coaching started from volunteering as a high school student at St. Joseph’s of Mountain View as a volleyball coach. She played 3 years of varsity basketball at Mtn. View High School and 2 years of volleyball. After high school graduation she went right into coaching while attending college. Her unwavering approach, passion, commitment, and sense of pride has produced winning players and teams at every age group. A strong emphasis on fundamentals and IQ is the core of her approach to developing young players. In addition to coaching basketball, Ruby has years of experience officiating basketball at every level. She also served as a board member of the West San Jose NJB serving as chapter director. Ruby’s high school coaching experience began at her alma mater Mtn. View High School, then Palo Alto High School, then coaching at Homestead High School for a 10 year stretch where she also coached volleyball for 5 seasons. Ruby is currently an assistant coach at St. Francis High School.
